There are many theories about what causes allergies.  One of those theories says that people develop an allergy at a time when their immune system is weak, and it encounters an offending substance.  We all react differently to different allergens.  Where one person may not be affected at all, another may get a runny nose, itchy eyes, asthma or a skin rash.  Allergic symptoms can range from barely noticeable to severe.

So if someone is exposed to an allergen like pollen, mold or dust that may in fact be harmless, their immune system over-reacts and begins to attack the allergen.  This over-reaction is in fact connected to social/emotional factors in the persons’ life.  It is very common for someone to develop allergies after a highly emotional event in their life.  Highly emotional experiences like divorce, death of a loved one, the loss of a job or any other strong emotional experience can trigger the beginning of an allergy.

So when treating someone with allergies, I always attempt to find out 4 things:

  • When did the allergy begin?
  • What was happening at that time in the persons’ life?
  • How did they feel about what was happening?
  • What were they thinking at that time?

As you can see, NLP recognizes a relationship between allergies and the person’s emotional state at the time the allergy began.  There is also a connection with their physical condition at that time as well.  If their immune system was a bit compromised, they were more sensitive to otherwise harmless allergens, and developed an allergy.

So rather than viewing an allergic response as an attack on our immune system from an otherwise harmless substance, NLP looks for answers connected to the particulars of an individual’s life.  The answer to why someone’s body would react in this way is directly connected to how this response could be meaningful – within the context of that persons’ life at the time.

Knowing that allergies begin at a specific point in a person’s life, the answer to “why” the allergies developed can be uncovered by collecting information on “what,” “when,” and “how” things were happening in their life at the time.

We believe that allergies are in some way a meaningful response to a certain behavior our body is engaged in.  We also know that NLP offers a way of changing that behavior (or thought) to help achieve a desirable outcome.

NLP views allergies as a behavior by the immune system.  It’s like the immune system is confused about some conflict happening in a person’s life.  Therefore, allergies are overreactions by the immune system to things that are not necessarily dangerous or troublesome at all.

The NLP healing method addresses the root cause of the allergy, and “re-educates” the immune system:

>  It looks at the time when the person’s life was in transition. (Allergies tend to develop during the transitional times – from one way of being to another).

>  It looks at the situation that was in some way, “out of balance”.

>  It looks at how the person’s immune system gets into a “heightened state of alert” in a similar environment or because of a similar stimulus.

An allergic response happens when the immune system mistakenly thinks something that is not otherwise harmful to your body is actually dangerous.  So an allergy is basically a phobia of the immune system.  The immune system reacts to transitions in life, such as starting school, the onset of puberty, leaving home at a young age, or even pregnancy.

NLP offers a procedure to end the allergies… and it works!  It gives you your life back, allowing you to enjoy it on your own terms. It frees you up to participate in those activities that may have been restricted by your allergies.  The process is surprisingly simple and doesn’t take very long to do, but it is quite effective.

Note:  I would NOT recommend this procedure for severe, life-threatening allergies.  Contact you physician.
