For those who read my last article on Anxiety, you may remember that Anxiety is usually about something happening (or not happening) in the future.  The physical symptoms you experience are REAL… not imagined, and some of them can be serious.  Just as a reminder, Anxiety is “A state of apprehension, uncertainty, and fear resulting from the anticipation of a realistic or fantasized threatening event or situation, often impairing physical and psychological functioning”.

Although Anxiety is most often about something in the future, its’ roots can be connected to something in the past.  (It’s sneaky that way).  For example, if you had some experience when you were a child that was highly emotional, your subconscious mind got programmed by that experience.  Odds are you may not even remember the experience, but that old program is still running long after you’ve grown up.

Let’s say someone said or did something offensive to you when you were little.  It may have hurt your feelings, insulted you or made you feel afraid or angry.  Later in life you find that you are ultra-sensitive to places, situations, statements and/or people who remind you of that experience – even though you don’t remember it!  Well, you may not remember it consciously, but your sub-conscious mind never forgets. It also never stops running that old program and making you feel bad.  Plus, it’s always on guard, expecting a repeat of the emotional experience you had as a child.

So when you experience some form of anxiety, you may have an outdated program working sub-consciously.  It can cause you to overreact with people or situations in the present – possibly in a somewhat “childlike” manner.  It can express itself as an unexplainable sadness, depression, a “quick temper”, or whatever it was that you felt during that very first experience at a younger age.  You can become a virtual slave to the emotions that go along with it.  To make matters worse, you can’t control them.

Fortunately, with Hypnosis and NLP you can learn the root cause of your present anxiety-producing feelings, and eliminate the problem forever.  You do not have to be a slave to some out-dated, sub-conscious program.  The sub-conscious mind does a great job… most of the time.  But it doesn’t question anything like the conscious mind does, and it takes everything literally.  It just accepts whatever it learns, good or bad – and that is both the problem…. and the solution!

Once we update that old programming by giving the subconscious mind a more adult set of instructions, it gladly complies; then both of you feel better.   It has a new program, and you no longer get anxious when those old reminders show up in your life.  Problem solved.
