A Trauma is any physical or emotional experience that overwhelms our ability to process it in a healthy fashion.   A trauma can be something as simple as being bullied as a child, to having a severe emotional experience or physical accident as an adult. Either way, it can cause lifelong problems with many unpleasant side effects.

Hypnosis for Trauma & PTSD

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a more complex result of trauma from exposure to a terrifying, often life-threatening event.  In addition, it’s followed by multiple symptoms that persist and don’t resolve over time.  Trauma is painful, unpredictable and can be totally debilitating; but it can be helped with Hypnosis and NLP.

Being unable to process the traumatic event, the individual re-experiences the overwhelming feelings and memories associated with the event.  This re-experiencing produces Post Traumatic Stress.

There is another form of Trauma wherein the Trauma was not one single event, but rather a long-term experience like that of a Prisoner of War for instance.  With this type of stress, it’s the effect of many similar traumatic experiences over a long period of time.  For instance, this form of Trauma can come from long-term child abuse or traumatic relationship.  The end result is the same.

Trauma & PTSD – common symptoms 

  • Difficulty sleeping and/or nightmares
  • Frequent and distressing memories or feeling like you are reliving the event
  • Avoiding anything that reminds you of the event
  • Constantly nervous, on edge, or on guard
  • Feeling emotionally numb or overwhelmed
  • Feeling disconnected or detached from others

  • Blaming yourself/guilt
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Work or school issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Isolation
  • Drinking or drug use
  • Feelings of hopelessness, shame, grief or despair

It’s not a simple issue

From the listings above you can see that PTSD is not a simple issue.  The term “PTSD” is more of a blanket label put on a collection of symptoms.  As a result, all of these symptoms need to be dealt with for effective recovery.  We therefore must take a holistic approach to treating the problem to get the best result.

Hypnosis has proven to be very effective in helping people suffering from the effects of a Trauma or PTSD.  I have several excellent techniques that can significantly reduce or eliminate both the severity and frequency of the recurring issues.  They basically take the pain and shock out of the memory of the traumatizing experience.  You still have the memory – but no longer have the emotional effects attached to it.  I don’t want you to lose the memory because it’s an important part of your life experience.  Some of our most positive learnings and personal growth can come from a powerful “negative” experience.

With Hypnosis you can alter your perceptions of the traumatizing event; this can provide a tremendous amount of relief and Hope.  Many Trauma and PTSD sufferers feel hopeless.  Providing realistic hope is an important component of the healing process because it can open the floodgates for natural healing to take place.
